A Note From Our President, Dennis Sperrazza - March 25, 2008

First of all I am excited to assume leadership of the Amerigo Vespucci Society. Rick Cua and the Council did a
fantastic job leading this organization for its first three years and I am looking forward to working with the council
to continue to build upon the great foundation they laid. I also want to thank the many, many members who
through their energy, dedication and talent have made Amerigo Vespucci Society a tremendous success. To all
these members and their tireless hours of work ...........…….THANK YOU.

Now, our focus in 2008 continues to be bringing the club together for fellowship and fun. After all, our goal is to
promote and perpetuate our Italian heritage and ensure our great Italian traditions continue to be passed down
from generation to generation.

2007 ended with a great Christmas party. We had wonderful food and wine, had some fun giving away door prizes
and spent the rest of evening singing Italian songs and telling stories of our youth. Everyone had a great time!
In 2008 our February and March Valentine’s Day and St Joseph’s Day events were fabulous! Our 3rd Annual St
Joseph’s Table was picturesque to say nothing about it being delectable! Everyone out did themselves
preparing the many meatless dishes in the Sicilian tradition. And the desserts……………..the St Joseph’s
desserts were out of this world! I can’t wait ‘til next year to do it again.

These were also great opportunities for us to get to know our new members and for them to meet many of our
“Family”. It was also nice to see some people we haven’t seen in a while and to welcome guests and potential
new members.

We’re looking forward to other great events this year including our picnic, our Italian film night, our wine tasting,
and the great wine making weekends in the fall. We’re also planning some fun nights of teaching Italian card
games, playing bocce and having some Italian classes to learn our beautiful language. So hopefully I will see you
at our next meeting where we can share some food and drink, maybe have a friendly competition playing a game
or two, or just have a good time enjoying each other’s company! Until then…….
